I am Berkay Hayırlı, an architect and architectural historian with demonstrated teaching experience and a strong interdisciplinary approach. Currently, I am a PhD candidate in the History of Architecture at Middle East Technical University, focusing on the intersections of land, environmental imagination, the built environment, and rural development.
My research bridges historical analysis with contemporary challenges in sustainability and energy transition. I explore how architectural and spatial histories inform ecological thinking and development practices—particularly in rural and regional contexts. Through both academic work and teaching, I aim to support a more environmentally grounded and historically informed approach to architecture and planning.
